But some consciousness and take steps in proper time, we can overcome it. Sometimes our ignorance convince us to avoid awareness.
# Introduction to Mosquitoes --
My dengue fever made me curious about mosquitoes.
After I recovered, I searched on Google and found out – the history of
mosquitoes. I had forgotten what I had studied in school when I was young.
Dengue fever made me remember it again. I realized again – ‘We are a very
ignorant people’.
Mosquitoes are deadly creatures in our region.
Different types of mosquitoes carry different types of germs. Anopheles, Aedes
and Culex are the three types of mosquitoes that are most common in our
country. They are easy to recognize by sight.
To live a healthy life, we must be aware of the
factors that are around us that cause health problems.
Mosquitoes are carriers of various diseases, that is,
they carry mosquito-borne viruses. Malaria is spread through the bite of female
Anopheles mosquitoes. Dengue fever and chikungunya fever are spread by the bite
of Aedes mosquitoes. And Culex mosquitoes spread filaria or gout disease.
Anopheles mosquitoes sit with their tails raised.
Aedes and Culex mosquitoes do not raise their tails, but keep their bodies
roughly parallel to the place where they sit. Aedes mosquitoes have stripes on
their legs like tigers. Aedes mosquitoes bite during the day as well. Every
year, many people are infected with mosquito-borne diseases. There is also
dengue/chikungunya season.
#
Birthplace or place of egg laying --
Anopheles mosquitoes lay their eggs in clean stagnant
water in ponds or farms. Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs in small amounts of
clean water accumulated in abandoned car tires, flower pots on the roof or on
the balcony, abandoned coconut garlands, coconut shells, etc. And Culex
mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant dirty water (such as dirty water from
blocked drains).
It takes one to two weeks for a mosquito to develop
from an egg into a mature mosquito. Mature mosquitoes live for about a week to
a month.
#
How the disease spreads --
When a mosquito bites a sick person, the germs in the
blood also enter the mosquito's stomach. Then, within a few days, the germs
multiply and enter the mosquito's saliva. Then, when this mosquito bites
another healthy person, the germs in the mosquito's saliva enter the blood of
the healthy person.

Prevention methods -- To prevent mosquito-borne diseases –
·
First of all, mosquitoes should be killed
by spraying mosquito repellent.
· Secondly, measures should be taken so that mosquitoes cannot lay eggs in places where mosquitoes lay eggs. For example, stagnant water should be made to flow so that Anopheles and Culex mosquitoes cannot lay eggs.
Dirty water from drains, ponds or other water bodies should be cleaned. Care should be taken to ensure that water does not stagnate in flower pots, coconut shells, soft drink cans, abandoned tires, etc. on and around the roof of the house for more than four to five days. Then there will be no place for Aedes mosquitoes to lay eggs.
This cleanliness is not possible only
through the government or city corporation. Awareness should be created in
every neighborhood about this.
·
Thirdly - Mosquito nets should be used
while sleeping. Apart from this, using sprays, mosquito coils and nets on doors
and windows in the house can also help to get rid of mosquito bites. Young children
should wear full-sleeved shirts or pants after evening.
We will not lose to mosquitoes, we will lose
mosquitoes through awareness - to lead a healthy life.
