Rheumatic Fever

Rheumatic Fever - If not treated properly - various heart-related complications can occur

A few days ago, I went to the hospital to see a relative of a patient with Corona's shock syndrome. Then I met another acquaintance. He came to the doctor with his child. The boy is suffering from rheumatic fever.

A risky health problem is rheumatic fever. Those of us who are fortunately healthy only know the name "rheumatic fever", many do not have a proper idea about its severity. But - to lead a healthy life, we need to know.

Experts say that rheumatic fever is not a common fever. If not treated properly, various heart-related complications can occur after rheumatic fever. This disease usually occurs at the age of 5 to 15. Unhealthy environment, dense population increase the risk of this disease.

There may be a history of sore throat or inflammation of the larynx two to three weeks before rheumatic fever. Many people cannot remember it. With fever, the major joints of the body swell or become painful, one after another, causing inflammation.

Inflammation of the walls or valves of the heart can cause irregular heartbeat, chest pain, palpitations, and shortness of breath. Sometimes, it can be accompanied by other symptoms, including skin rashes.

In childhood, rheumatic fever is usually diagnosed by the age of 40. Therefore, if rheumatic fever is diagnosed in childhood, heart disease can be avoided by taking treatment as advised by the doctor until the age of 21 or 5 years after the disease is diagnosed.

Symptoms of rheumatic fever-related heart disease are irregular heartbeat, palpitations, shortness of breath with slight exertion, shortness of breath, cough, coughing up blood, etc.

Sometimes blood clots can form and cause a stroke. In our country, rheumatic fever is the main cause of heart valve defects. Therefore, if a child or adolescent has symptoms such as sore throat, inflammation of the throat, sudden swelling or pain of various joints after fever, shortness of breath, chest palpitations, etc., it should be taken seriously.

The child should be treated promptly after necessary tests. Complications can be avoided by taking regular treatment for a long time.
