Proper preparation is essential for proper diagnosis
I have made this mistake many times and have suffered, and learned from repeated problems, - in my own case, in the case of other family members as well. So I want to tell others the correct rules - so that they do not suffer like me.
When we have a problem with an illness, when the
doctor makes us do many tests, we get very annoyed. Sometimes we say to
ourselves or publicly, "Give me medicine, eat it, and I will get better,
it costs a lot to do so many tests." But we do not think on what basis the
doctor will give medicine?
For proper treatment, proper diagnosis is necessary.
The first and most important step is to tell the doctor the problems correctly.
Then the doctor does the necessary health check-ups and allows some necessary
tests to be done.
Some of these tests are done to move towards the right
disease, and some are done to ensure the absence of other potentially serious
diseases. This is the standard practice of medicine worldwide. Sometimes wrong
reports are also received due to not doing the tests properly.
What
the experts told me to teach -
1. There is no basis for the idea that taking blood
several times for many tests reduces the blood in the body. A very small part
of the blood that is normally present in the human body is taken during the test.
The rule is to take about half a liter of blood from the body during blood
donation, compared to that, two or three test tube-filled blood is nothing.
2. You should find out from the doctor when and how to
donate blood. You should try to get the tests done in a quality lab.
3. Some tests need to be done on an empty stomach. For
example, for an empty stomach blood glucose test, you need to be on an empty
stomach for at least eight hours. For a blood sugar test, you need to be on an
empty stomach for 9-12 hours. Being on an empty stomach means that you can only
drink water during this time. After taking blood on an empty stomach to
diagnose diabetes, in many cases, you are asked to drink glucose water and then
take blood again two hours later for testing. During this specific time, you
cannot eat anything or do much exercise. The test results may change due to
time changes.
4. There are some things to do after collecting the
specific tube for urine testing. Before urinating, the place where you urinate
should be cleaned. For women, the rule of cleaning is from front to back. The
first part of the urine should not be collected in the tube. The urine in the
middle should be collected. Not the very last part either.
5. You should find out from the doctor whether there
is any specific preparation required for the tests that the doctor prescribes.
6. Specific preparation is required for tests such as
ultrasonogram, CT scan, endoscopy, colonoscopy. You should talk to the place
where the test is done, that is, the specific lab, in advance and find out
about the necessary preparation.
To lead a healthy life - proper
preparation is definitely essential for the correct diagnosis.
