Breast Cancer
Nowadays, if you look around, you can hear about the problem of breast cancer. Many people I know have this problem. Breast cancer is a special problem as an obstacle to a healthy life, which many of us do not realize at first.
However, sometimes we are unnecessarily afraid due to
the fault of our mind. So I think it is important to have the right idea about
breast cancer to avoid unnecessary worries. Many people have different thoughts
about breast cancer. Not everything that is thought may be true.
I see many people around me running to the doctor in
fear at the slightest problem. So I also learned from the doctor to be free
from worries.
Experts say -
1) Breast
pain - Patients with breast cancer diagnosed at an early stage usually do not
have symptoms of breast pain. Initially, only 1.2 percent to 5 percent have
symptoms of pain. If there is no abnormality in the breast during physical
examination and if the reports of various radiological tests, such as
mammography, ultrasonography are normal, then it is rare for cancer to be
diagnosed with breast pain alone.
2) Not
all lumps in the breast are cancer - Everyone panics when lumps appear in the
breast. But more than 80 percent of breast lumps are not cancer. There are
various reasons for lumps in the breast. For example - fibroadenoma,
fibrocystic lumps, intraductal papilloma, fat accumulation, abscesses and
cancer. But if there is a lump in the breast, you should definitely seek
medical attention immediately. The idea that a fine needle aspiration biopsy
(FNAC) can detect cancer throughout the body has not been proven to be true. In
fact, it is one of the most reliable tests for diagnosing breast cancer.
3) Not breastfeeding increases the risk -- this has been proven true in research. Breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer later in life.
4) Wearing tight underwear causes breast cancer -- Many people say that wearing tight underwear obstructs the lymph flow of the breast. This causes cancer-causing substances to accumulate and cause breast cancer. This idea is completely baseless. It has no scientific basis.
5) Breast
cancer does not occur at a young age -- it can occur at any age. However, the
risk increases with age. There is almost no risk below the age of 20. In our
country, the risk is highest for women aged 40 to 50, while in the West it is
after 50 years.
6) If
there is a history of breast cancer in the family, the risk is higher -- about
70 percent of breast cancer patients cannot be identified. However, family
history increases the risk of breast cancer. 7 percent of breast cancer
patients have a family history of breast cancer.
7) Breast
cancer from birth control pills -- Taking birth control pills with high levels
of estrogen for a long time increases the risk. Apart from this, hormone
therapy, which is given to reduce hot flashes after menopause, also increases
the risk. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a doctor before taking such
medications.

Men also get breast cancer -
The doctor said that breast cancer is not just for
women. Men can also get breast cancer. But due to lack of awareness and
knowledge, this problem is often not detected in men or is detected late. As a
result, the mortality rate of men from breast cancer is 19 percent higher than
that of women. Therefore, it is important to know the symptoms of this health
problem.
Experts say that feeling a lump or wheel in the breast
is the main symptom of breast cancer. There may be a wheel or lump directly
behind the nipple or areola, or it may be felt anywhere on the breast.
Another important symptom is any kind of change or
abnormality in the nipple. The shape of the nipple may change, or it may be
indented. Bleeding may also occur.
The cause of male breast cancer is unknown. It is
believed that the problem has something to do with hormone levels. Breast cells
grow and divide in response to hormones like estrogen. The more these cells in
men divide, the more abnormalities appear.
Apart from this, breast cancer is also linked to
unhealthy lifestyles - such as smoking, drinking alcohol, obesity, and lack of
physical activity.
The tests and treatment for breast cancer in both men
and women are almost the same. After diagnosis, the treatment is determined
according to the type of disease. If symptoms appear, you should seek help from
a specialist doctor without delay.
Be aware - know about the disease to lead a healthy life.
