Sleep hygiene When we were young, our parents were very conscious about our sleep. They never let us stay up at night to do anything, including studying, they used to say – “There is no alternative to healthy sleep - to lead a healthy life . If we do not sleep properly, our head will not be well, which means the brain will not function properly. If the brain does not function properly, it means that the day is wasted”.  God has also designated night for rest and day for work.  But unfortunately, in the present era of extreme modernity, people have turned day into night – and night into day, we see every where!!   Desire is - I went to sleep, again - spent a few days without sleeping. Or having to take sleeping pills because you can't sleep, going to bed late, so getting up late the next day - none of this is healthy. It is not right to become dependent on sleeping pills because you are not sleeping. Said the expert - There is no substitute for adequate sleep t...

Sometimes laziness is beneficial!

Sometimes laziness is beneficial!

There are many myths about laziness and lazy people in all countries - at all times!! For example - the story heard from the grandparents in childhood - two lazy people are sleeping. Meanwhile the house is set on fire or set to test their laziness. They are too lazy to open their eyes! So they still lie down with their eyes closed and one idler says to another idler – “How much sun is shining”, the other says – who will open his eyes”! Seeing the situation, the villagers took them out of the house and saved them from burning to death!! This story, however, is seen as a source of humor, but it is not that there are no lazy people.

That's right, - too much laziness has a bad effect on the family, the society, the world, and even on one's own physical and mental health.

On the other hand - ignoring laziness at all can also have a bad effect on our mental and physical health. For example - after working hard for a few days, we suddenly become lazy. But due to ignorance we do not understand its benefits. Also, because the rule of rest is not known properly, this "spending idle time" does not work.

I once read an article by Arnab Sanyal in Prothom Alo newspaper. The writing caught my attention and after thinking about it, this research and article is very useful for our life. So I want to repeat it for awareness all of us.

As the article states – spending some idle time sometimes boosts our mental health. If you think about it, we are always immersed in work, even in sleep our body-mind is at work - Medical science says.

We sit with smartphone, Facebook, TV, newspaper, book, whatever time we get in the gap of necessary works, we do not spend the leisure of absolute laziness. Because, it has to be concerned with a specific purpose of peeking into other people's lives or showing the picture of one's own life to others. There is a rush to like-comments on Facebook, the character of a newspaper news or a story book sleeps across the mind. It cannot really be called 'spending idle time'. These stimulate the mind in various ways, and a restless mind affects the body.

To relieve such preoccupations - came a new philosophy of living - called 'Nixon'. Although it is a Dutch word, it is no longer confined to the Dutch border. This information comes courtesy of the New York Times, Time and Insider.com.

Sandy Mann, a psychologist at the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom, said - At any given time, we have something to do - Not working at that time is 'Nixon'.

Because, many times we are forced to do something even if we don't want to. The lack of interest may somehow get the job done. Instead, not working is 'Nixon'.

In other words, the basic idea of 'Nixon' is to deliberately find time to sit quietly or to sit by the window and look out seemingly pointlessly. Do not think about any work at that time. Just let time flow idly by. In common parlance, such work is called 'laziness' or wasting time'. Maybe some people can say it as a stupidity.

Because people are not machines, mental health collapses due to over-busy - it seems that, in fact, we are not machines, we are human beings made of flesh and blood.

There is a lot of research on people's current busy lives. It appears that people are suffering from various mental problems due to extreme busyness. There are various ways to get rid of them. Notable among them is taking regular breaks between work. It is said that these planned breaks increase human efficiency and productivity.

But doing nothing is a bit more complicated. But what happens if you try? If you can get used to laziness by manage time, the benefits are many. Researcher Sandy Mann says from her research 'get lost in the world of daydreaming'. Although today's society views daydreaming in a negative light, but it is quite positive for people's mental health.

Sandy Man says that 'daydreaming' makes people more creative. As a result, when a person wakes up from daydreaming and needs to do something, that person can focus on solving any problem and solve it very well and quickly. New ideas come to mind. And for all these, it is necessary to spend ” totally lazy time” by making both body and mind idle together. Try it once - to lead a healthy life.
