Some of our mistakes in caring for newborns
This article is very important for babies born in
winter to have a healthy life. In general, where it is difficult for newborns
to adapt, it is not surprising that cold weather can cause extreme harm.
Therefore, extra care is needed at this time.
The doctor said- The newborn's body gets cold very
easily. Because, the innate mechanism of keeping the body temperature warm is
not fully developed immediately after birth. For this reason, the baby cannot
be bathed for the first 72 hours after birth. In the case of premature babies
or newborns weighing less than 2.5 kg, bathing should be delayed further on the
advice of the doctor.
I became aware of this issue because of the birth of
my daughter in December.
Immediately after the birth, when the whole family
(especially the midwife) started preparing for the baby's bath, then the doctor
was surprised and asked - What are you doing? Don't you want to keep the baby
alive?
Everyone was surprised and said - All the dirt from
the womb is stuck on the body, blood is stuck on it. How can I hold it in my
arms without cleaning it!?
The doctor said - If these are objects of hatred, then
all the intestines in your stomach are objects of hatred, cut them out and
throw them away, throw all the blood in your body too, because, - the baby is
now being prepared for death because of the blood and dirt.
My son was born in May. The doctor who was still there
at that time also said the same thing. He even said the same thing about hair
removal. And he said that it is better not to remove hair from the head until
the scalp is hard. Because, it cannot be said that if the pressure of the
fingers or a blade is suddenly applied to the scalp, serious damage can be
caused. So I have been wearing all my children's hair for a whole year.
The doctor said - From 72 hours after birth, a newborn
can be bathed every other day. However, if he has a cold or cough or if the
severity of the cold increases, it is better not to bathe him for a few days.
You can gently wipe the body with a cloth soaked in lukewarm water. There is no
need to add antiseptic to the baby's bath water.
After a month, mustard oil can be applied to the body
before bathing, but at other times it is not necessary. However, olive oil
keeps the baby's skin healthy. You can warm the oil a little and massage it
gently on the body twice a day, which is beneficial for the baby's body as it
improves blood circulation and helps the baby sleep better.
Even if the baby does not cry or sleeps for a long
time, you should pick him up every 2-3 hours and feed him milk. And you should
pick him up on your shoulder and pat his back and make him burp. You should
keep him on your shoulder and pat his back gently until he burps.
It takes 7 to 10 days for the umbilical cord to fall
off. Usually, no medicine is needed for this, if everything is good, it will
fall off by itself. If there is any such problem, no medicine can be given
without consulting a doctor.
It is better if the clothes are soft - cotton and
white or light in color.
Cream or lotion can be applied to the face. In winter,
it is better to wear diapers less. If you have to wear them, you should be
careful that the stool and urine do not become too heavy due to wearing them
for a long time. Usually, diapers can be kept for 6-8 hours.
However, children urinate more in winter. Therefore,
at this time, the diaper should be removed earlier, that is, in a shorter time.
Using zinc cream or petroleum jelly before using diapers reduces diaper rash.
In winter, many people use Vicks, balm, etc. on the
chest to protect newborns from colds and coughs. Many also feed honey, basil
leaves, etc. None of these should be done. Mother's milk is the best and only
food and disease prevention for newborns.
The normal body temperature of a newborn baby is 97.7
to 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature should be maintained.
If the baby's body temperature drops below 95.9
degrees Fahrenheit, immediate action should be taken. Check to see if the
baby's clothes and body are wet. If there are open doors, windows, or other
sources of cold air, close them. Then the baby should be wrapped tightly in cloth.
The temperature should be measured again after an
hour. If the body temperature is still below 95.5 degrees Fahrenheit, you
should immediately go to the doctor. In addition, if the newborn has a high
fever, falls asleep, or has seizures, you should immediately seek medical
attention.
Awareness about the above issues is very important for
the healthy life of the child, because due to ignorance at this time, any
painful disease like asthma can remain in the child's body for the rest of his
life.
Know and make arrangements for the child - to
lead a healthy life.
