Rules for child care
Once I was in big trouble for one of my neighbors. I couldn't even say anything, but I couldn't bear to see it in front of my eyes! I was confused, I didn't understand - which was right -
Is extreme care right? Or - is a little loose
discipline like ours right? On the other hand, sometimes when our children were
very naughty, I thought - maybe strict discipline or extreme caution is right.
So I started searching for the right path or method of
child care. I started searching for books/papers, talked to some wise people.
What I knew and what I got from my own experience, I have presented here.
Who doesn't want his child to grow up with care - to lead a healthy life? But many of us go the wrong way when it comes to this care.
In previous generations, children would live in the
middle of a joint family or with other siblings in the family, so they would
learn a lot from everyone. This meant that parents didn't need to take extra
care of their children due to the busyness of the family. Young children would
learn everything while staying with other siblings in the family.
Now, the number of children in a family is less and
the current era is an era of competition and often single-parent families.
Everyone wants to surpass others in every way. Parents, or especially mothers,
are naturally a little more aware, so that there is no deficiency in the care
of their children.
But sometimes this 'care-giving' becomes so excessive
that it brings harm or hazard to the child!
I went to the specialist for my own children - so that
I could be corrected if I was wrong.
- - The specialist said - “Shall I start from
the birth of the child?”
- - I agreed.
1. Although it is a rule to give only breast milk to
the baby for six months after birth, the elders of today's families do not rely
on it much. While trying to provide good nutrition to the child, they become
interested in sugar water, glucose, tinned milk, etc. As a result, various
problems including flatulence, hard stools, vomiting, jaundice begin. The worst
effect of this is that the child gradually loses interest in drinking breast milk.
2. Then when the child is 2 or 3 years old, instead of
homemade food, a little older child is tempted to feed marketed canned food,
cereals, baby food, etc. Parents believe that these foreign and expensive foods
are definitely more nutritious, and the child grows faster. This habit distracts
the child from nutritious and safe food prepared at home and makes him addicted
to outside food. This results in various complications including obesity,
anemia.
3. Many parents think that if the child eats more, the
child will get more nutrition. For that - various arrangements are made -
coercion, dancing/singing, feeding while sleeping, to mobile phones, cartoons,
etc. This makes the child addicted to mobile phones or cartoons, if not given,
he screams and cries, and does not want to eat anymore. We do not even think
about the digestive problems that may occur due to overeating due to feeding in
this way. This hinders his mental development, reduces the exchange of ideas,
delays speech, we do not notice these.
4. We do not want to cause any trouble
to children under the influence of emotions. Simple small tasks that they can
easily do under the guise of play, without encouraging the child to do it -
adults do it themselves. Even after they are old enough, the mother feeds them,
does not let them carry school bags, and dresses them. As a result, the child
does not learn anything, does not develop their work skills, and learns to do
everything with the help of adults.
5. So - don't overdo anything in the care of a growing
baby, the child must be loved, cherished, helped and supported, but overdoing
anything is not good. There is no place for anything extra to ensure the normal
development of the child. Nothing should be imposed. He should be allowed to do
his own work through encouragement and made to understand that everyone has to
do their own work. If you want to help, you can only correct him if he makes a
mistake.
6. On the path of a child's growth ----
The first word from the mouth of a baby, the first
learning to sit, the first walking - this is a matter of great joy and
curiosity for the whole family. Many parents keep these special days as
memories in a diary or album. These memories can be useful at some point. So it
is a good thing to preserve when these things happened. Because, doctors can
also understand from these memories whether the child is developing properly or
not.
From the information obtained from the research of
experts, it is known that the development and growth of a child can be affected
at any time. It may be that everything was fine until the age of 8 or 9. But
then suddenly there is a mess, and everything is not going well. Someone's
puberty is delayed, or various other problems may arise. That is when it
becomes necessary to know what happened before.
• At the age of 7 months, a child learns to sit
without any help. At this time, he can express his emotions appropriately by
looking at the faces and expressions of others. It takes about 9 months to get
the right pattern of emotions. At this time, he acquires the ability to grab an
object with his fingers and sit and look in any direction, which makes him
curious about various things.
• At the age of 8 months, some children learn to crawl
and can stand holding someone's hand. Before or after the first birthday, he
learns to walk on his own. These signs indicate how mature his nervous system
is developing.
• Not being able to walk or talk at the right time
does not mean that the child has any kind of disability. This development can
be hindered for various reasons. There are proper treatments for these minor
problems.
• Parents should keep an eye on the developmental
stages of their children. If the development seems slow, you can seek help from
a doctor. It is good to measure the height and weight of the child every 6
months and write it down. This gives an idea of his growth rate.
A child's growth can be hindered step by step due to
various types of long-term diseases, hormonal problems, genetic defects, etc.
Starting from malnutrition, this diary of the child's early growth will be
useful while searching for the cause. Therefore, each of us can keep such an
album or diary at home.
Children do not understand anything about health or
how to live a healthy life. As they grow up, they have to be taught, informed,
explained and this is the job of us, the adults. So first we have to know ‘how
to handle children’. Not with arbitrary discipline, but with proper discipline
– using the right rules in our lives.
It is our responsibility - to try to lead a healthy life.
